Josh Gad to Direct, Lorne Michaels to Produce

A biopic about the late comedian Chris Farley is in the works, with Josh Gad set to direct. Emmy, Critics Choice, and Golden Globe Award winner Paul Walter Hauser will star as Farley in the film, which is based on the bestselling biography by Farley's brother, Tom.

Hauser's Transformation

Hauser, who is best known for his roles in Cobra Kai and I, Tonya, will reportedly undergo a significant physical transformation to play Farley. The actor will gain weight and wear prosthetics to recreate Farley's iconic look. Hauser has previously expressed his admiration for Farley, calling him "a comedic genius" and "an inspiration."

Gad's Vision

Gad, who recently directed the Netflix film Central Park, is said to be passionate about bringing Farley's story to the big screen. The actor and comedian has long been a fan of Farley's work and believes that his biopic will be a "celebration of his life and a reminder of his enduring legacy."

Farley's Legacy

Farley was a beloved comedian known for his over-the-top characters, infectious energy, and kind heart. He rose to fame on Saturday Night Live in the early 1990s and starred in several successful films, including Tommy Boy and Black Sheep. Farley died of a drug overdose in 1997 at the age of 33, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and inspiration.

The untitled Chris Farley biopic is expected to begin filming in early 2023. New Line Cinema has landed the rights to the film, which will be produced by Lorne Michaels and Broadway Video. The film is a testament to Farley's enduring impact on the world of comedy and a reminder that laughter can live on even after the person who brought it to life is gone.
